The Nation’s First Animal Shelter

Morris Animal Refuge was founded in 1874 by Elizabeth Morris. Located in Philadelphia, their mission is to be an open admission shelter.

They have saved many lives and never turned a pet away. We first learned of the organization through a couple of their board members (also our clients) and we wanted to help!

Giving back to the community is very important to us. Moreover, it keeps us inspires as artists. Morris Animal Refuge was eager about this collaboration and set up 2 pet portrait shoots in Philadelphia. We are used to traveling all over, and travel to Philadelphia frequently. It turns out, our founder Darren, lived half a block from Morris when he was younger!

To Philadelphia and Beyond

The first photo shoot focused on the people of Morris Animal Refuge. They take great care of these pets until they find forever homes. It was incredible to see the love they have for each pet. The second photo shoot focused on the success stories of pets adopted from Morris Animal Refuge. This photo shoot took place at an awesome location called Globe Dye Works.

It had an edgy vibe and provided a perfect backdrop to create iconic pet portraits with their owners.

Once the photo shoots wrapped, we began custom printing and framing artwork for the gallery opening and art auction. We installed the artwork at an art gallery in Philadelphia called Works on Paper and got ready for the art auction.

The gallery opening was a success! Table books with the pet portraits commemorated the event as well.

Giving Back

Now with COVID19 impacting our lives, many animal rescues like Morris Animal Refuge, are having to cancel or postpone important fundraising events. But you can still help, by #GivingTuesdayNow! At a time when we are all experiencing the pandemic, generosity is what brings people together. May 5th, 2020 is a day for everyone around the world to stand together and give back in all ways, no matter who or where we are.
