Willow Street Pictures is excited to announce that we are hosting the 2nd Annual National Dog Show Pet Portrait Exhibit! This exhibit will feature contemporary-style portraits of some beautiful pooches with their siblings, families, and caregivers, and will be held on November 9th from 6-8 p.m.
November is National Dog Show Month, and our exhibit is part of a host of events in and around the Philadelphia area that are leading up to the Kennel Club of Philadelphia’s National Dog Show. In fact, Willow Street Pictures is the official art gallery for the National Dog Show!
New Leash On Life
In being the official gallery of the dog show, Willow Street Pictures has donated services such as photography, custom printing, and custom framing. Also, a sizable portion of artwork sales is donated to charities selected by the National Dog Show. One of these charities is New Leash On Life, which is a non-profit organization that helps prison inmates ease into being released during the months prior. New Leash On Life provides each inmate with a rescue dog — many considered “unadoptable” by their shelter — to care for and train. This way, not only are the dogs’ lives saved, but the soon-to-be-released inmates gain a valuable and loving companion to ease their transition back into civilian life.
We held a photo shoot for the charity, and the artwork produced from this shoot will be on display for the exhibit on November 9th. We think it’s amazing to see the loving and caring relationships that were made between the dogs and the inmates!
Additional Photo Shoots
One of the greatest supporters of the National Dog Show is the host of “Afternoons With Kristen” on 95.7, BEN FM, Kristen Herrmann. Kristen and her dog Gloria took part in a shoot here at Willow Street, and the portraits turned out fantastic — you can really see how much love these two have for each other.
In 2018, we took portraits of the entire Therapy Dog Ambassador Team of National Dog Show along with David Frei, the co-host of the show. For 2019, we focused on one of the newer members of the team, Donna DeFalcis. She is a proud owner of one of the most unique-looking dog breeds — the Bergamasco. These puppies were well-behaved subjects and allowed us to capture their iconic look with ease!
Last but not least, our artists were on location at the Footlighters Theater in Berwyn, PA, to take photos of the cast of The Perfect Dog. The Perfect Dog is a musical for younger audiences that is based on the book with the same name. This book happens to be written by National Dog Show co-host John O’Hurley. O’Hurley is famous for playing the role of J. Peterman on one of the greatest sitcoms of all time, Seinfeld.
Additional Events
In addition to this gallery, Willow Street will be exhibiting artwork at the National Dog Show at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center in Oaks, PA. This exhibit will take place on November 16th and 17th.
On top of this, the artwork will also be shown at the National Dog Show Gala that Friday, November 15th. The gala is taking place at the Westover Country Club in Norristown, PA.
